Prime real estate at premier location available now

SALINA, Kansas (January 30, 2015)- Industry leaders and entrepreneurs know Salina is an ideal place to set up shop or expand and grow their business.  Located in the center of the continental United States with easy access to Interstates 135 and 70, and adjacent to a 12,300-foot runway; the Salina Airport Authority has numerous development ready lots available for lease and sale now at this premier location.

The Salina Airport Authority has taken the steps to put the necessary infrastructure in place, saving prospective tenants months in construction time, allowing them to set up shop faster.

"They are ready now," explained Tim Rogers, A.A.E., Salina Airport Authority executive director. "Each lot identified as 'development ready' has public street access, city water and sewer, access to fiber optic and commercial internet, Westar electric, Kansas Gas Service and in some places a dedicated city fire main."

Additionally, all lots are already properly zoned and hold environmental site assessments of Phase I or II. Businesses that make the move to Salina are able to do so quicker because a large portion of the work is already done.

"We do the work on the lots to be prepared for new business expansion and attraction," said Rogers. "Corporate real estate staff expect development ready lots in order to start immediate construction. Maintaining an inventory of these sites assists in the growth and economic stability of our community."

All lots designated for aviation business use are located on the already thriving Salina Regional Airport.  Businesses building on these lots will join Bombardier, Avflight Salina, Blue Beacon, Kansas State University Salina, the Kansas Highway Patrol, TDM Aerotek, Schilling Aircraft Services and the Army National Guard at "America's Fuel Stop." Lots have immediate access to the airport's 12,300-foot primary runway.

Salina offers a ready workforce for aviation industry by virtue of Kansas State University Salina, a Top 5 aviation school, located on the airfield and featuring programs that include Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Aviation Maintenance, Avionics, Professional Pilot, Helicopter Pilot, Airport Management and Mechanical Engineering.

For those lots designated for non-aeronautical use, there is no shortage of workforce training. The Salina Area Technical College is located on the Salina Airport Industrial Center and offers programs that include Welding; HVAC; Machine Tool, Diesel, Electric, Construction, and Environmental Technology as well as multiple other technical and health disciplines.

Major employers at the Salina Airport Industrial Center are Salina VortexCorporation, GE Oil and Gas and the Schwan Food Company to name a few. FedEx Ground and Veris Technologies recently took advantage of development ready lots and built new facilities at the airport industrial center.

"We work closely with the City, County and Chamber to make it as comfortable as possible for businesses to grow and locate here," said Rogers. "With the tracts of ground already prepped for construction, a new business can break ground and be up and running in a few short months at an ideal location for success."
