Board Summary

 

 

In regards to the winter storms, all scheduled flights at SLN were able to operate. This includes US Airways Express, airfreight and one military charter flight. The airport stayed open in spite of power failures and extreme weather conditions.

 

Air Traffic in November 2007 had a 8.76% increase over November 2006, but the year-to-date operations are down 3.63% as compared to the first 11 months of 2006. SLN has seen an increase in air carrier, military itinerant and military local operations. Total operations should end up with a slight increase over 2006.

 

Despite the fact that many airports are showing a decrease in fuel flowage, SLN continues to have increases. November 2007 was up 4% as compared to the November 2006 totals. The year-to-date shows a slight increase of 1.24%.

 

Three military charter flights during November cause the monthly total to climb to 679 passenger enplanements at SLN. US Airways Express' boarding doubled to 299 passengers. The year-to-date total enplanements will fall just below 3,000, a 45% increase over the 2006 total.

 

The Airport Authority Finance Department has been busy working at ending the fiscal year. The November 30, 2007 financial statements bring a few of our accruals and estimates in actual, including property tax expense. The Airport Authority's 2007 total property tax expense arrived at $189,581 with the corresponding portion passed on as additional tenant land rental equaling $122,112.

 

Another estimated item is the Airport Authority mill levy receivable on the Statement of Net Assets. The mill levy as of November 30, 2007 is $1,236,467, which represents the mill levy the Airport Authority expects to receive in the next 12 months.

 

At the end of November, total revenue reached 88% of the annual budget with total operating expenses ending up at 93%. The Airport Authority is anticipating insurance proceeds of $105,000 to be received yet this fiscal year which will offset the associated building maintenance expense account.

 

The Salina Airport Authority Board also voted to approve the proposed 2008 budget.
