Hangar Complex Begins to Take Shape

The footprint of the $6 million hangar project can now be seen as the construction groundwork progresses on schedule for completion next summer.

All underground utility work is completed already, and the asphalt base course paving and trenching for the foundation is well underway.

The 69,000-square-foot modern hangar complex will feature 41,400-square-feet of hangar space, 22,600- square-feet of multi-purpose office space and 5,000- square-feet of customer service area. The hangar will be able to accommodate a 100-foot wingspan and 28- foot tail height.

    Arriving at the M. J. Kennedy Air Terminal one hour before my plane departed from the Salina Municipal Airport, I checked in and received my boarding passes. As I waited in the comfortable passenger lobby, I thought about the many things that make flying out of Salina convenient.

    While waiting I discussed the convenience of Salina witht he other passengers. Many commented on the money and time that we saved by flying to Kansas City instead of driving.

  • America Jet Excels at Charter Flight Service
  • America Jet, a fixed base operator (FBO) at Salina Municipal Airport, provided excellent full service to three charter flights in one day. The charter flights were Boeing 737-800s that flew 400 soldiers from the Kansas National Guard to their next training site.
