SLN Aviation Service Center Builds a New Hangar Complex

The SLN Aviation Service Center will soon have a new addition. The Salina Airport Authority is building a modern 66,000-square-foot hangar and office complex in anticipation of continued growth in the aviation markets it serves.

"The Salina Airport Authority is constructing all new hangar and office facilities as a key element of our long-term growth strategy," said Executive Director Tim Rogers, A.A.E.

  • SLN Targets Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • The Salina Airport Authority is undertaking an ambitious effort to support and recruit unmanned aerial vechicle activity at its SLN Aviation Service Center.

    The airport helped host a heavily attended national UAS Symposium in 2006 and assisted in investigative testing of a Canadian UAV at the nearby Smoky Hill Weapons Range.

  • SLN Aviation Service Center Offers Helicopter Training
  • The SLN Aviation Service Center will soon add helicopter training to its growing list of aerospace activities through a recent gift to Kansas State University at Salina from a benefactor.

    The helicopter purchase will further broaden the offerings of K-State at Salina's aviation program. This past academic year alone, the department has added a glider tot he fleet and started an aviation safety minor. This fall, the department will also launch a new avionics curriculum.

    Passengers of USAirways Express will be more comfortable because of the quick work of the Salina Airport Authority staff and local contractors. New carpet, baseboards and other improvements are nearly complete at the SLN Municipal Airport Terminal.

    The Salina Airport Authority board of directors met at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. The board approved a new lease and discussed the temporary note sale procedure for Hangar 600.

  • Tim Rogers Accepts Coin of Excellence on Behalf of Community
  • The Award was presented by the Regiment's Lt. Col. Timothy J. Senecaut.

    On July 26, 2007, Tim Rogers, A.A.E. accepted the 235th Regiment, Kansas National Guard Coin of Excellence on behalf of the Salina Airport Authority Board of Directors, staff and the Salina Community. The award was given because of the assistance guidance and support provided to the growth of the Guard's Kansas Training Center at the Airport Industrial Center.
