Salina Airport Expands Available Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, and Engine Services
Salina, Kan.
November 22, 2005
Beginning in January 2006, Wells Aircraft Inc., will
open a full service airframe maintenance,
avionics and engine facility at the Salina Municipal
Airport.
The expansion of aviation services available to the
7,000 business aircraft that annually
frequent "America's Fuel Stop" is part of an industry
marketing campaign by the Salina Airport Authority
and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce to grow
the Salina Aviation Service Center. Salina's aviation
fuel sales already exceed 4 million gallons annually.

Beginning early next year, Hutchison-based Wells
Aircraft will provide aircraft owners with airframe and
powerplant (A&P) services as well as avionics
installation and repair for a wide range of general
aviation aircraft. The addition of Wells is significant
to the multitude of business aircraft that make Salina
their mid-continent
fuel stop.
"Since 1928 Wells Aircraft Inc., has provided
excellent service to pilots and aircraft owners
throughout the Great Plains states. That tradition of
expert service will continue at its new Salina
Municipal
Airport facility," said Tim Rogers, executive director
of the Salina Airport Authority.

Wells Aircraft president Gary Crow views Salina as
a "tremendous market" for his company's growth.
"The expansion to Salina is an excellent fit
for Wells Aircraft since the Salina
Municipal Airport has an expanding general aviation
base."
The company will operate from a hangar at the south
end of the airport adjacent to the M.J. Kennedy Air
Terminal. Well's long-term plan is to also
offer air taxi and charter services from its new Salina
business location. For

In recent years, the Salina Airport Authority has
invested nearly $8 million in airfield improvements
including a new general aviation reliever runway,
extensive rehabilitation of the primary and crosswind
runways, the purchase of a new ARFF vehicle and
renovations to large aircraft hangar
facilities.
