Salina,
Kan., (November 6, 2009)-The Wildcats of the Women in Aviation,
International K-State at Salina held a "Plane Wax Weekend" fundraiser,
November 7 and 8 at the Salina Airport Authority's Hangar 600.
During
the weekend fundraiser, the group made more than $1,600 to help them
fund their trip to the annual WAI conference in Orlando by washing and
waxing eight tenant airplanes.
"It
was a lot of fun," said Kristen Lingg, chapter vice
president. "Getting to see the different planes and hear the
history behind them from the owners was a really great experience.
I speak for all of the Women in Aviation when I say that we felt a
sense of accomplishment from the hard, honest work we did that weekend
to raise money for our trip to the conference and we wouldn't have been
able to do it without the help of the Salina Airport Authority."
Pilots
were not only able to get their planes polished and shined but were
able to take advantage of a fuel discount at the Airport Authority's
new self-fueling station.
