Women in
Aviation, International is a nonprofit organization which encourages
the advancement of women who are striving for challenging and
fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
"This
year we will be traveling to the annual WAI conference in
Orlando," said Chapter President Kara Godsil. "The
conference is a chance to meet with other women- and men- in the
aviation field. It gives us the opportunity to network and build
relationships with other members. Scholarships and even job
opportunities are available through membership and attending
the conference."
For a
minimum tax- deductible donation of $150, WAI members will wipe down and
wax the airplane. The aircraft owner is required to be present
for movement of the plane.
"We
will have a signed statement ensuring the safety, protection and utmost
care of the airplane after a pre- and post- wax walk through of the
plane have been conducted," said Godsil.
While
the WAI members are shining up the airplane, the owner is free to leave
and come back or welcome to stay and watch the Wildcats' football game
against the Jayhawks while they wait. A call ahead for a time
slot is encouraged.
