Candy Canes and Airplanes: Santa expected
to temporarily base out of SLN, party planned
Salina, Kan., (November 1) - Ol'
Saint Nick is inviting all the good girls and boys to fly, drive, walk
or run to Candy Canes and Airplanes, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Salina
Municipal Airport's Hangar 600 located at 2720 Arnold.
Project Jingle Bells is underway
in full force this week, as word blew in from the North Pole that Santa
intends to use the Salina Airport as a temporary base for the month of
December.
Father Christmas cited the
12,300-foot runway, K-State's state-of-the-art recreation center and
CAV Aerospace's de-icing capabilities as some of the many reasons he
chose Salina.
"Santa wanted to come down
about a month in advance to put the finishing touches on the infamous
Naughty and Nice List," explained a spokes-elf for the Kringle
Camp. "He plans to visit numerous locations on the airport
and hold a fly-in and open house for all the good girls and boys in the
area."
Plenty of Christmas cheer will
fill the hangar as children will get face time with the Jolly Old Elf
and his contingent of Christmas folk traveling with him. K-State
student organizations will provide souvenir photos with Santa as well
as fun activities and crafts, all available for a small donation.
Civilian and military aircraft will be on display and prizes will be
given away throughout the day.
