AcuStep locates in Airport Industrial Center

AcuStep a new manufacturing firm that designs and produces pain-relieving foot supports, has located in the Salina Development Center, 2775 Arnold, Suite B.

The business uses new, freshly patented technology to produce the foot supports placed inside shoes.  The company is owned by two Salina physicians and Lee Young, chief executive office of Salina Vortex.

The company has already received several patents for the technology used to produce the supports.  It currently has four employees with the potential to increase significantly in the future.

To produce the orthotic supports, a sensor is placed in a customer’s shoe.  A small portable computer is attached to the shoe, and the two devices compile information about the user’s feet while he or she does normal activities.

Basically, the sensors show high points on the feet that might cause excessive pressure on different parts of the body.  Information is then downloaded to a computer, which aids in the material production of the supports.

“We’re very pleased AcuStep will be locating in Salina,” stated Gerald Cook, president of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce.  “This company has a high growth potential based on the fact that they are the only ones in the world that have this technology.”

The company began operation October 15.
