Salina gives back to military
members
Salina, Kan., (October 5, 2010) - The Salina Military Affairs
Council (MAC) is hosting the families of Fort Riley's deployed Combat
Aviation Brigade (CAB) in conjunction with the Rolling Hills Wildlife
Adventure's annual Pumpkin PaZOOla, Saturday, October 9.
Families from the Home of the Big Red One will enjoy
breakfast, welcome packages, complimentary pumpkins and more courtesy of
the Salina MAC and the Salina-area businesses who make it all possible.
In August, the relationship between Saline County, the City of
Salina and Fort Riley was formalized in an Army Community Covenant
signing. As the designated unit for Salina, the CAB and the community
pledged to offer invitations to community events and education of community
resources, as well as, maintain close relationships.
"We asked the families of the CAB what they would like to
do in Salina and they immediately came back with Rolling Hills Wildlife
Adventure," said Jo Ann McClure, Military Affairs
Representative. "This is the first of many events recognizing
our military and their families."
Along with the military families at Fort Riley, Salina has
many military members serving as a part of the Army and Air Guard, as well
as reservists from all services. The Salina MAC will continue to
enhance the strong community bond between Salina citizens and area military
members and their families.
Media is encouraged to cover the event. Additional
information, including a list of Salina-area businesses offering military
discounts is available on the Salina MAC Facebook page.
