Salina Municipal Airport has a 12,300-foot primary runway with a 4,300-foot parallel runway, state-of-the-art air traffic control with modern navigational aids and ample apron space.

At the UAS/FSS, participants will be able to see the advantages of the Smoky Hill Joint Training Center. The goal of the Smoky Hill Joint Training Center is to provide integrated training involving air and ground assets. The center is ideal for organizations requiring a co-located air/ground testing and evaluation center. The benefit to both governmental agencies and private industries is the ability to evaluate the results of an exercise/flight test with all the players present.

The Smoky Hill Joint Training Center consists of the Smoky Hill Range, Kansas Regional Training Institute (KSRTI), Fort Riley and the Salina Municipal Airport. The Smoky Hill Range consists of 54 square miles of land available for ground training and boasts the largest volume of restricted airspace of any Air National Guard Range. Additional airspace is available in nearby Military Operating Areas and restricted airspace in the Salina area. The KSRTI has been established to provide professional instruction for military personnel and top-class facilities for both military and non-military organizations. A key element of the Center is Fort Riley, which has a great working relationship with the Kansas National Guard. The last piece of the Joint Training Center is the Salina Municipal Airport, which is less than six miles from the Smoky Hill Range and features a 12,300-foot primary runway and a 4,300-foot parallel runway.

SLN Salina Municipal Airport is home base for numerous aviation businesses and operations. These include America Jet, Aerospace Systems & Technologies, Inc., EagleMed air ambulance, Kansas Wing Headquarters - Civil Air Patrol, Flower Aviation, Kansas Army National Guard Aviation Support Facility, Kansas State University at Salina, Kansas Highway Patrol Aviation,Professional Flight Training, LC, Raytheon Aircraft Company - Salina Division, Salina Aircraft Services, and the corporate flight departments for ADM Milling Company, Blue Beacon International, Geoprobe Systems, Pepsi Cola - Salina, Plains Environmental, Premier Pneumatics, Inc., and Bradley Trucking Co.
