Adjutant General's Department co-hosts Kansas Technical
Rescue Conference
Salina, Kan., (September 10, 2009) - The
Adjutant General's Department and the Kansas Search and Rescue Working
Group are hosting the Kansas Technical Rescue Conference today through
Saturday at the Great Plains Regional Training Center in Salina.
The main conference begins tomorrow. It takes place in Building
365 of the Kansas Regional Training Institute, 2930 Scanlan Ave.
The three-day event is hosting field experts in training venues for
local search and rescue personnel. The event is aimed at people with
backgrounds in structural collapse, trench collapse, confined space,
water rescue teams. The conference will also feature equipment,
manufacturers and distributors showcasing new gear and technology.
Today several four-hour classes got underway before the main
conference, providing hands-on instruction at the Great Plains Joint
Training Center's Crisis City training site. It included an open forum
for sharing news and views on advances in equipment and techniques,
technical problems and issues surrounding local jurisdictions.
Scheduled classes include vehicle and machine rescue, U.S. Army
technical search and K-9 operations for the Army, breaching/breaking
for Army operations and shoring for Army operations.
