Runway 17-35 to open today
 
Salina, Kan., (August 18, 2009) - After almost a month of closure due to airport improvement construction at the Salina Airport Authority, the main runway, Runway 17-35 along with the ILS system will open as scheduled today at 1 p.m.
 
The runway is expected to be shut down again for further improvements September 3 to 23.
                                                         
This and other construction projects are funded in part by Airport Improvement Program grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.  The Airport Improvement Program provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems.  Construction on the north ramp area is funded by a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, more commonly referred to as "Stimulus Money."
