The hangar's corporate neighbors are Hawker Beechcraft Corp. and CAV Aerospace, Inc. Hawker Beechcraft Corp. (and its predecessors Beech Aircraft and Raytheon Aircraft) has had a presence in Salina since 1966. CAV Aerospace, Inc. recently moved to a larger facility in the SLN Aviation Service Center where the company builds and installs the TKS Ice Protection System.

"The Salina Airport Authority's support has been essential to the rapid growth of the TKS ice protection product line in the United States," said Kevin Hawley, president of CAV Aerospace, Inc.

The building of Hangar 600 is part of the aggressive growth strategy by the Salina Airport Authority to make sure the airport continues to attract new businesses to the community.

The Salina Airport Authority built the Salina Municipal Airport, SLN Aviation Service Center and Airport Industrial Center into an integral part of North Central Kansas' economic development. Working closely with the City of Salina, Saline County and the state legislatures, the airport has $30 million in general obligation bonding authority to fund new improvements and finance construction for new tenants. SLN also offers sales, property and employment tax incentives as part of its approach.

When most communities impede the growth of an airport, the Salina community works together to help in the success of businesses and organization in the SLN Aviation Service Center and Airport Industrial Center. Currently the Airport and Airport Industrial Center are home to 80 businesses and organizations that employ over 4,100 people.
