Smoky Hill Air National Guard Range Public Open House
You are
cordially invited to the Open House at Smoky Hill Air National Guard
Range. Our Open House is one of several ways we share with local
communities the role that Smoky Hill Range plays in the defense of our
country and its freedoms. It is also a demonstration of our great
appreciation to the local community for their support of the flying
activities which take place here. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. on
Saturday, August 01, 2009. Flying activities are scheduled to begin
at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately 5 hours. Featured events
will include aerial gunnery and training demonstrations by the fighter,
bomber, and other military aircraft that train at Smoky Hill ANG Range.
Hot dogs, pop, water, and memorabilia will be available for purchase.
Coolers are welcome but no alcohol is allowed. Some bleachers and
picnic tables will be available for seating, however, lawn chairs are
encouraged as bleacher capacity will be exceeded. Ear protection will
be provided at no cost. Sunscreen and sunglasses should be
considered. An emergency medical vehicle will be present.
Smoky Hill ANG Range consists of dusty, gravel roads with a speed limit of
45 mph unless otherwise posted, or conditions preclude. The
observation area for aerial gunnery and training events will be at the
Operations area, approximately six miles from the main gate. The map
on the reverse provides directions to the range.
If you have any questions, please contact Smoky Hill ANG Range at (785)
827-9611/9612, extension 125 or 148, for further information. If the
weather appears inclement, there will be a message on extension 156.
We hope your schedule will allow you to be with us this weekend.
