Salina Air Service Improved with Non-Stop Flights and Lower Fares to Kansas City
Salina, Kan (April 10, 2007) -Scheduled airline service for the City of Salina, Saline County and all of North Central Kansas will soon be improved with non-stop flights directly to Kansas City coupled with lower air fares.
"This is a step toward much improved air service for the City of Salina, Saline County, and North Central Kansas," said Executive Director of the Salina Airport Authority Tim Rogers, A.A.E.
Effective Sunday, June 3, 2007, Mesa Air Group's Air Midwest operating as USAirways Express will begin a new schedule for the Salina Municipal Airport by providing two non-stop round trips to Kansas City instead of three one-stop round trips a day. This is an important step in a sequence of events that will lead to improved air service for the City of Salina, Saline County and North Central Kansas.
The new schedule for Salina will provide two non-stop round trips Monday through Friday, and one non-stop round trip on Saturday and Sunday. The non-stop service will allow for more capacity for travelers from Salina compared to the current service that involves a stop in Manhattan, Kansas, and less seating for those traveling from the Salina Airport.
"Air service is an important part of our new strategic plan to create jobs and private sector capital investment in the City of Salina and Saline County," said President and CEO of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce Dennis Lauver.
"I would like to thank the Salina Airport Authority board and staff for all of their hard work in improving the area's air service."
The new schedule effective June 3, 2007 will be:
"With the number of passengers that Manhattan is boarding each month, Salina does not have very many seats available for their own passengers. By changing the service to two non-stop flights we feel that many more people in North Central Kansas can utilize the flights from Salina," says Jeffrey Hartz, manager of Essential Air Service for Mesa Air Group. "These lower fares will hopefully convince more people to stop driving to Kansas City, and instead start their next trip at the Salina Municipal Airport."
*Taxes/Fees do not include a $3.40 Federal Excise Tax which will be imposed on each flight segment in the passenger's ticketed itinerary. A flight segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing. Fares do not include Passenger Facility Charge(s) of up to $18.00. depending on itinerary or September 11th Security Fee of up to $10 per round trip. These taxes and fees are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time the ticket is purchased. Miscellaneous: Fares and rules are subject to change without notice. Fares stated include a $9.30 fuel surcharge one-way. Other restrictions may apply.
