SeaPort Airlines announces growth into the Mid-West

Portland, Ore. - The Department of Transportation announced the selection of SeaPort Airlines as Salina's new essential air service provider, March 12.  Service to Salina from Kansas City could start as early as April 19th with three daily roundtrip flights Sunday through Friday.  Salina and surrounding communities will be serviced by the impeccable safety and reliability of SeaPort Airlines' 9-seat Pilatus PC-12 aircraft.

A letter from Mayor Luci Larson to DOT's Office of Aviation Analysis outlined the recommendation of SeaPort Airlines by local civic and political leaders.

"I understand the importance of having dependable, reliable air service with an affordable cost," said Luci Larson, the city's mayor and co-owner of Action Travel.  "Not only will SeaPort Airlines meet these needs, but excel by providing great customer service, a high level of community involvement and an eagerness to become a Salina partner."

The letter supports a few key deliverables that only SeaPort Airlines can support, such as: greater frequency, a 9-seat "right sized" aircraft, affordable fares, military/government fares, and an active community marketing plan.

"I applaud their entrepreneurship and look forward to our working relationship," said Mayor Larson.  "Their presence here in the Midwest is a win-win situation for all of us.  The 'door-to-door' service they will provide will be truly appreciated by all passengers. Want to travel like rock star? Fly SeaPort Airlines!"

"Salina, Kansas is a perfect example of yet another community 'right sized' for our operation and we're thrilled to provide our service," said Rob McKinney, president SeaPort Airlines.

For the past few years Great Lakes has been serving the market and will discontinue service on April 19th when SeaPort Airlines is scheduled to begin.  Tickets are available for purchase now.

"Much like our Arkansas routes, we've got a very large challenge ahead of us that we're confident we can overcome," said McKinney.  "Salina and surrounding communities are in need of an airline that can provide a safe and hassle free travel experience, superb customer service, community involvement, and a commitment to reliability.  That's everything SeaPort Airlines stands for!"

Passengers flying SeaPort Airlines can park on site like before, arrive just 20 minutes before departure, even with checked bags, and never deal with the hassles of waiting in line.  Once customers arrive in Kansas City, SeaPort's complimentary shuttle van can quickly transport customers to the main terminal for connecting flights.  Ground transportation partners with rental cars, taxis, and town cars can also be arranged prior to departing Salina to ensure an entirely smooth travel experience door to door.

SeaPort Airlines operates 115 daily scheduled flights during the weekdays in five Northwest cities, five Mid-South cities, seven Southeast Alaska cities via Wings of Alaska and all with hassle-free check in, bringing the convenience of a private aircraft to the average traveler for the same cost as the old airlines.

SeaPort Airlines operates Swiss-built Pilatus PC-12s, a pressurized, fast and comfortable turbo-prop aircraft.  SeaPort Airlines is a dba of Alaska Juneau Aeronautics, an FAA Part 135 certified scheduled air carrier founded in 1983.  Tickets can be purchased at SeaPort's website, www.SeaPortAirlines.com or by calling 888.573.2767.
