At 9:05 a.m. (CST), Steve Fossett guided the Virgin
Atlantic GlobalFlyer to a safe landing at the Salina
Municipal Airport, completing the closed-circuit
distance record after covering more than 25,300
statute miles. The record is the third that Fossett
has achieved in the experimental GlobalFlyer aircraft.
In addition to Steve Fossett and the Virgin Atlantic
GlobalFlyer, the Salina Municipal Airport is home base
