SLN Aviation Service Center Update
The seventh bill that Kansas Govenor Kathleen Sebelius signed in 2007 will benefit the Salina community and give the Salina Airport Authority additional capability to construct new facilities for aviation and aerospace businesses. Senate Bill 33 was unanimously passed in an unprecedented show of support for economic growth by both the Kansas House of Representatives and the Kansas Senate. The legislation increased the Airport Authority's capacity to issue general obligation bonds. The Airport Authority's financing cap for the construction of new facilities is now set at $40 million.
"As we continue to prepare our workforce for 21st century jobs, we need to prepare our communities as well," Sebelius said. "This bill allows the city of Salina to determine what they can do, from a resource perspective, to be attractive and flexible to new business."
