City of Salina Grants Funds for CAV Aerospace Expansion
Salina, Kan (Feb. 26, 2008) - The City of Salina has approved a request from CAV Aerospace, Inc. for a $49,200 Salina Economic Development Incentives Council grant from the city's special sales tax fund for economic development.
CAV Aerospace, Inc. is the North American Ice Protection subsidiary of CAV Aerospace, Ltd. of the United Kingdom. It manufactures airplane ice protection systems for numerous aircraft models.
The grant funds will be used to fund the purchase of equipment for logistics, aircraft modification and systems installation. The City of Salina's economic development grant will assist CAV's future growth, including outfitting an additional 13,500-square-foot warehouse and logistics building to meet customer expectations and requirements.
"We are very delighted that the Salina Economic Development Incentives Council and the City of Salina approved these incentives," said CAV Aerospace, Inc. President Kevin Hawley. "This grant will allow us to support the future needs of our customers and major aircraft manufacturers in the United States, including those nearby in Wichita."
Since locating at the Salina Aviation Service Center in 2000, CAV Aerospace has grown from its initial 6,000-square-foot hangar to a remodeled 40,000-square-foot facility. CAV Aerospace has accelerated its product development and aircraft certification approvals to require additional hangar space and an expanded warehouse operation. This latest expansion will result in 12 additional jobs.
"The Salina Airport Authority is again delighted with CAV's most recent expansion opportunity. It is another opportunity to demonstrate to the aerospace industry that the Salina Aviation Service Center is poised to help make our aviation partners even more successful," said Airport Executive Director Tim Rogers, A.A.E.

It works by exuding a measured amount of glycol-based de-icing fluid through microscopic holes in wing leading edges fashioned of titanium, along with a dispersion mechanism for propellers.
