"Receiving the
GFOA Certificate is an achievement standard that the Airport Authority
has set for its financial reporting," said Manager of
Administration and Finance Shelli Swanson. "This standard
helps us reach our goal of delivering timely financial information to
our decision makers, creditors and other stakeholders that is accurate,
reliable and in conformance with governmental accounting
standards."
Swanson received her
11th Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as the individual
primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.
Each year the CAFR
has been submitted to the GFOA, Swanson and the Airport Authority have
received these awards.
"The awards
named again this year for Achievement for Excellence in Financial
Reporting are confirmation that Shelli and staff continue to provide
the highest level of performance and representation for the Salina
Airport Authority," said Board Chairman Jeff Thompson.
"Salina often hears of the business activity at the airport and
its Aviation and Industrial Center, but it does not hear enough about
the behind the scenes work and workers that are the core to why
Salina's airport is successful."
The CAFR has been
judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program
including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full
disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and
motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
