Salina Airport Authority, Salina Area Chamber of Commerce Engage James Gregory Consultancy
to Expand Aerospace Recruiting Efforts

Salina, Kan. February 16, 2006 The Salina Airport Authority and Salina Area Chamber of Commerce have jointly engaged James Gregory Consultancy LLC to increase the community's efforts to recruit expanding and new aerospace business to the SLN Aviation Service Center.

Jim Gregory, of James Gregory Consultancy LLC, is a veteran aerospace industry executive with more than 30 years of aviation experience and an extensive background in economic development projects. He retired in 2002 from the senior leadership team at Raytheon Aircraft Company with responsibilities for corporate affairs and communications. Previously he served in executive capacities with The Boeing Company and the predecessor company to Bombardier Aerospace Learjet.

"We are pleased to complement our aviation business recruiting effort by including Jim Gregory's counsel and professional services on our economic development team," said Tim Rogers, AAE, executive director of the Salina Airport Authority. "He has supported the Salina Airport for more than 20 years, either as an executive with Raytheon or consulting with us following his retirement," Rogers said.

"Jim Gregory has already begun to add value to our recruiting program and Salina will benefit from his experience and contacts in the aviation industry," added Salina Chamber President Gerald Cook. "Engaging a recruiter of his capabilities is further indication that Salina is serious about expanding our aviation reach and that we are aggressively looking for new aerospace business," Cook said.

"The Salina Airport and the community offer aviation businesses outstanding opportunities to grow their operations and to prosper," Gregory said. "I am eager to continue to champion the aerospace potential in Salina."

Gregory has been involved in numerous aviation- related economic development projects on and off airports in many cities and states. His experience includes negotiating economic development incentive packages, airport development projects, and build-to- suit leases, in addition to acquiring and divesting aviation businesses.

James Gregory Consultancy previously provided professional services to the Salina Airport Authority and Salina Area Chamber of Commerce. These efforts included:

  • Public relations support for the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer project.
  • Public affairs consultations on successful repeal of the state sales tax on aircraft modification and maintenance activities at the Salina Municipal Airport.
  • Guiding legislative strategy to facilitate Salina Vortex's expansion at the Salina Airport Industrial Center.
