 US Airways Express Special Fare

Salina, KS – Today, Mickey Bowman, director of pricing for Mesa Air Group of Phoenix, AZ, announced a special  $149 round trip fare for travel on Mesa's Air Midwest, Inc. subsidiary from the Salina, KS Regional Airport to the Kansas City International Airport.  The fare is for a limited time and certain restrictions apply.  Air Midwest operates from the Salina Regional Airport operating as US Airways Express.

Scott Lyon, Mesa's director of planning, stated the special fare will assist Mesa in the efforts to improve service in the Salina market.  "The $149 round trip fare coupled with Salina's three departures to Kansas City will assist Salina area passengers in making connections with all airlines that operate out of the Kansas City International Airport with non-stop service to every major city in the U.S."

The flight time to Kansas City on an Air Midwest Beech 1990D is just a little over one hour as compared to a three and one-half hour drive.  Salina Airport Authority, executive director, Tim Rogers stated "The special $149 round trip fare will be attractive to many travelers who want to avoid driving seven hours to and from Kansas City."

The $149 round trip fare is also competitive after a traveler compares the actual cost of driving versus flying.  To drive to Kansas City a traveler must spend money on fuel, parking, vehicle wear, and at times, a hotel room.  By choosing US Airways Express, the traveler avoids the driving expenses and saves valuable time.

Parking at the Salina M.J. Kennedy Terminal Building is always free and for many Salina area travelers, the trip to the airport is a short drive.   After the passenger arrives inside the terminal building, they can conveniently proceed with fast and easy security screening provided by agents of the Transportation Security Administration.

For more information on the special $149 roundtrip fare and a listing of the restrictions that apply, log on to the  SAA's web site at http://www.salair.org  and click on News Releases.  (An  $8 Kansas City Passenger Facility Charge applies.)

The Salina Regional Airport provides commercial air service to area travelers within a 15-county region of North Central Kansas.  During 2002 the airport recorded over 95,000 aircraft take-off and landings and the commercial operators on the field delivered over 4.7 million gallons of aircraft fuel.
