Salina Airport Authority
Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer Possible Launch Date
Current Status - World-Record Attempt
Salina Airport Authority Announces

Salina, Kan. January 26, 2005 The launch date for the world-record attempt by record-setting pilot Steve Fossett, could be as early as next week.  Flying the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer, Steve will attempt the first solo, non-stop, non-refueled around-the-world flight that will launch from and land at the Salina Municipal Airport, known as "America's Fuel Stop".

Subject to one more test flight, the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer is ready for its round-the-world record attempt with the earliest date for take off being the end of next week.  Due to the inevitable lack of certainty in long range weather reports, we will never be able to be predict exactly when the attempt will take off until two or three days before the ready day.
