Government officials, local media, travel agents and
other interested citizens attended a news
conference at the Salina Airport Authority on
Monday, January 8, 2007. It was announced at the
conference that the the Sixel Consulting Group of
Eugene, Oregon, has been contracted to assist the
community in assessing, recruiting, negotiating and
improving the scheduled and unscheduled air service
to the Salina Municipal Airport.

The City of Salina, Saline County, Salina Area
Chamber of Commerce and the Salina Airport
Authority are jointly investigating how best to
improve the community's air service.
Dennis Lauver, President and CEO for the Salina
Area Chamber of Commerce along with Tim Rogers,
A.A.E., Executive Director of the Salina Airport
Authority conducted the news conference.
"Sixel Consulting Group will review regional air service
at Salina and surrounding airports in order to make
recommendations about future enhancements for our
community," said Tim Rogers, A.A.E., executive
director of the Salina Airport Authority.
"Sixel's primary objective is to help us achieve better
air service for the citizens of Salina and surrounding
communities," he added.
One of Sixel's first steps is implementation of an
Internet-based survey to determine the Salina
community's opinions on the past, present and future
of Salina air service.
Upon completion of the Air Service Development
study, Sixel will present recommendations to the
community. Initial portions of the study are
expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2007.
After the Salina community reviews the results of the
Air Service Development study, Sixel will also help
write grants and recruit targeted airlines.
