Salina Airport Authority Announces
Salina, Kan.

At approximately 12:00 noon, CST on January 6,
2005, the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer departed
Mojave Airport, California enroute to its new home at
the Salina Municipal Airport where it landed at 5:30
p.m. CST.
After making one low approach and fly-by over the
Airport's main runway, several media groups and
spectators witnessed the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer
land and then taxi to the Airport's Hangar No. 703,
which will be the home for the GlobalFlyer until the
world
record attempt.
The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer plans to launch its
world record attempt from and land at the Salina
Municipal Airport, known as "America's Fuel Stop", in
early February depending on favorable weather
conditions.
The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer aircraft was
repositioned to Salina by record-setting pilot Steve
Fossett, who will be the sole pilot of the upcoming
world record attempt. Steve and his crew were
welcomed to Salina by several members of the media,
Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, Kansas State
University at Salina and Salina Airport Authority staff.
