Salina Airport Authority Advises

Please be advised that the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer,
which will attempt the first solo, non-stop, non
refueled around-the-world flight, is scheduled to
arrive at the Salina Municipal Airport at approximately
4:30 p.m. today, Jan. 6, 2005.
The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer plans to launch its
world record attempt from and land at the Salina
Municipal Airport, known as "America's Fuel Stop", in
early February depending on favorable weather
conditions.
The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer aircraft is being
repositioned for the record attempt from Mojave
Airport, California, where it has been undergoing
flight tests in preparation for the record attempt.
Record-setting pilot Steve Fossett, who will attempt
the world record, will be available for brief
interviews upon arrival in Salina with the Virgin
Atlantic GlobalFlyer.
If you are a media representative and would like to
cover the aircraft's arrival, please note that you
must arrive at the M.J. Kennedy Air Terminal, 3237
Arnold Ave., Salina, KS, no later than 3:30 p.m.
today to provide ample time to be escorted onto the
airfield. Media representatives arriving late, will not
be guaranteed access to the airfield and the
opportunity to document the Virgin Atlantic
GlobalFlyer's arrival.
