Sixel Consulting Group Hired to Study Commercial Air Service

Government officials, local media, travel agents and other interested citizens attended a news conference at the Salina Airport Authority on Monday, January 8, 2007. It was announced at the conference that the Sixel Consulting Group of Eugene, Oregon, has been contracted to assist the community in assessing, recruiting, negotiating and improving the scheduled and unscheduled air service to the Salina Municipal Airport.

  • Growth Comes to National Guard Range
  • New jobs, a new building and training for more troops are ahead for the Smoky Hill Air National Guard Range west of Salina.

    The range, 10 miles west of Salina, is to be home for an Air Support Operations Squadron. The squadron announced that this will allow training that will more closely tie air and ground operations on the battlefield.

  • On January 9, 2007, former Salina Airport Authority Board Chairman and local pilot, Bill Horton celebrated the 62nd anniversary of his first solo flight by taking his plane up and going out for a $100 hamburger. Bill can often be found flying to various airports in the area to enjoy a good hamburger or all you can eat pancakes. Bill not only enjoys a good meal, but also likes the adventure of flying to other airports and the opportunity for good conversation with the people he meets.
